As a member of the Borough Council, Markus has been dedicated to making Forest Hills a great place to live and one of the most financially stable municipalities in Allegheny County, all without raising taxes. Markus is proud of being instrumental in making our neighborhood one of the most environmentally progressive boroughs in PA. During his tenure on Council, Forest Hills became one of the first areas to pass a Chicken and Bees ordinance, to ban fracking, and to adopt a Climate Action Plan. Markus worked on multiple large projects benefiting Forest Hills residents: the dog park, a major renovation of the pool and tennis courts, and our brand new, award-winning, net-zero energy municipal building. Born and raised in Germany, Markus moved to the US in 1999 and has been a resident of Forest Hills since 2001. He became a U.S. citizen and Democrat in 2005.
